Study species: Spotted Flycatcher
Research topic: Full annual cycle
Institution location: Lancaster University
I am in the first year of my PhD researching the decline of Spotted Flycatchers and how habitat and environmental drivers impact their population dynamics.
I gained a BSc in Biology, focussing largely on ecology and primarily ornithology towards my final year. During this time I carried out a year-long placement with the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust where my interest for conservation of avifauna was peaked. I then completed an MRes in Ecology and Environmental Biology, where I studied the impacts of urbanisation on Blue Tit population dynamics - in particular using survival models and IPMs to understand the impacts on vital rates.
